Titlecase 3 - Beta

After a while, there was an opportunity to work on titlecase.com and improve functionalities. Early access is through http://beta.titlecase.com/.

Change log

  • Find/replace functionality is added. Both normal and regex find/replace modes are provided. Each input and also output box has a small button on right hand side under the box to invoke fin/replace toolbar.
  • dot.case is added.
  • Adding Keep As-Is words is supported now. To add a word to the list, click Setting. These words will be kept as they entered in the list for title case conversions.
  • Password generator is improved. Calculations of password score and entropy also added.

Please let us know what you think about the new design and any issues you may encountered.

  1. It's much faster, but the result fields are excessively large; user should not have to scroll down for results.

    1. Thank you for your constructive comment. I made fields a little bit shorter and added links to scroll down to specific results.

    2. I agree. I think the placement of the ads is the problem, making you scroll down to see the result(s). Maybe if the ads were placed vertically on both sides you'd be able to see the result directly below the entry.

    3. Added a bottom toolbar to ease scrolling.

  2. I liked that I could copy things into the old Titlecase without converting them simply to "neutralize" the font. I would copy things into Titlecase and then copy them to where I was working and the font would automatically copy as the one I was using. I often used this for blog post titles that I wanted to link in emails.

Also, I liked the darker design, but that's a matter of preference, I guess.

    1. Would you please explain more? It should be the same in the site. Whatever I paste to the "enter text below" box and copy it(either with ctrl-c or copy to clipboard button) font and any format becomes cleared and I get plain text.

    2. Darker theme can be also selected now by the button on top navigation bar.

  3. How about paragraph case/sentence case? Currently trying to use your site for webpage content copied from Word with a few all caps headings that I don't want. Love that it strips the Word formatting for the most part, but I have no options for a normal sentence with capitalization on the first word, I, etc.

    2. Awesome! Love that you're open to feedback. I just removed the other text converter from my bookmarks :)

ps. There's a spelling error in "Sentence case".

  4. I have been using the application to copy pleading titles. My only complaint about the application is that I can't edit the results within your application. Not a huge problem but it would be nice to be able to make edits before I paste.

    1. Line break is back! Please check it out. Now it adds space.

  6. When I use the remove line break function, the results combine words that should be separate

  7. One issue I've found with the new one: it capitalizes the first letter after an apostrophe. So for example, it's becomes It'S.

Otherwise great, and thanks for providing the service.

  8. I've been using this utility for several years and it has been very helpful. Thank you. Now that you ask for feedback, here it is.

I am personally interested in how easily I can convert multiple strings. As it is now I have to perform the following commands to get a result: click Clear, click in the box, Ctrl+V the text I want to convert, click Convert, click Copy to clipboard. It would be great if you can reduce the number of commands. For example, click in the text box could perform a Clear too. After the text is pasted into the box, the Convert function could be activated automatically. It would be great if the default result (Title Case) would be automatically copied to the clipboard, but perhaps that is not possible and I have to click a button for that.

    1. Thank you for your suggestions. I added "Instant" option to settings. Some of your requested features are not possible though. For example, browsers won't allow copying to clipboard without user's direct action. Anyway, please check out the instant feature and feedback!

    2. I tried it. It's faster. That's good for me. Thank you.

Is it also possible to clear the "Enter Text Below" text box when I click on it? I usually want to convert a new text not to append to the old one. Perhaps that's the way most people use it.

Because the main text box is larger and there is extra padding before it. I have to scroll down each time when I convert something to see the result on my laptop. (Then scroll back up to the main text box to enter a new text.) If it is not possible to remove the empty space before the main text box (for design reasons) could you make it automatically scroll down to the main result after it converts a text (in Instant mode)?

Another idea: have some help tooltips over some of the options in Settings. Some people won't know what instant or Trim does.

Thank you for running this tool in the public space.

    3. Clicking in the box clears it now in instant mode of course. It scrolls to the first conversion automatically. Tooltips also added.
Thank you very much for your comments.

  10. While the results are displaying with the same line breaks as the input, when I copy and paste from the results box (or use the "copy to clipboard button") to another application I'm finding that the line breaks are gone. Since I've been using this tool to convert a list of titles, it's a major pain if what was, say, 10 short "paragraphs" becomes on long paragraph. In fact it's such a pain that this tool becomes pretty much useless to me. It's faster just to manually convert the titles myself.

Note that I do NOT have the "remove line breaks" box checked.

I'm using Firefox, if that matters.

But let me end by saying thank you for creating this tool!

    1. Hi Bruce
Thank you for your comment. I worked on the bug. Please check if it is resolved. Using "Copy to clipboard" button should keep line breaks in FF now.

    2. Thank you! The "copy to clipboard" button is now retaining the line breaks.

  11. The site looks snazzy but is working horribly:

In Firefox 42.0, which I must use at work, I am retrieving "undefined" after entering text and clicking "Convert" at http://titlecase.com/. This makes the site entirely non-functional in FF 42.

Meanwhile, in IE 11, the "enter text" field is not accepting pasting in of the text to be converted (i.e., is requiring manual typing of the text, which defeats the purpose of the site). Also, the titles of the fields are displaying in an inordinately enormous font--presumably with mobiles in mind, but with terrible effect on a conventional web browser.

    Why does:
    it's not over
    Title Case to:
    It'S Not Over

notice the S is caps when it shouldn't be.

  18. Hi!

Love your site, recommended it many times and use it daily.

One area for improvement: we used to be able to send the string to be converted directly via the URL in the old version (http://titlecase.com/index.php?page=h&text=TEXT+TEXT+TEXTS&submitted=yes).

This was very practical in combination with Chrome's shortcuts for search engines, in which you type a keyword ("title"), then press Tab, then type the search term, then hit enter. This was so practical and fast.

With the current version, this does not work anymore.

If you could re-enable to option to send the search string (the string to be converted) directly via the URL (query string I believe it is called)... that would be very helpful for frequent users such as myself.

    Best wishes

  19. Thank you for the great tool!
    1. When pasting several lines, the ones ending with ")" stick to the next ones.
    2. I know, exceptions can be set, but it could be useful to keep abbreviations with one checkbox like "keep existing caps as they are" or "keep caps in second+ letters".
    3. Did you consider creating API?

  20. Thanks for a great tool! I've found a bug, when pasting text with a tab character (text[tab]text), the text after the tab is not capitalised!
